ExperienceI'm a finance professional seeking to support university students. I have achieved excellent academic result (4.0/4.0 GPA in Masters degree), professional qualification (the CFA Program) as well as work experience (with Deloitte Australia and a real estate fund).
I am passionate about helping students and my peers succeed. For me, tutoring is a very rewarding experience, especially when I can help my students sharpen their knowledge, be confident and pass their exams. I also enjoy providing career advice to my students as well as fresh graduates.
I arrived in Australia about four years ago and spent two years in Melbourne as an international student. Whilst studying a Master of Analytics degree and simultaneously completing the first two levels of the CFA Program (a professional qualification considered to be the hardest one in Wall Street), I successfully assisted more than 20 students from 7 institutions including Melbourne Uni and Monash. I helped them in various subjects in finance, business statistics, quantitative methods and accounting.
I moved to Sydney in 2015 for my first job with Deloitte Sydney. I was a Senior Analyst in Financial Advisory department, specialised in financial modelling (corporate finance). I’ve recently moved to a new job and now have some spare time to pick up tutoring again. At the moment, I am a portfolio analyst with Campus Living Villages Fund, doing a combination of fund valuation and corporate development.
My approach is to help students grasp the knowledge, not just to pass with little understanding. I prefer to begin with a quick review of the overall content to help you connect the dots. We can then work through the questions and I will explain relevant concepts along the way. I am a busy professional and will go straight to the important materials without wasting our time.
It is best if you start studying early and regularly (ideally, every week from week 4) but I can also help provide intensive exam revision too. Each session normally goes for 1.5 to 2 hours. My hourly rate for one-on-one tuition starts from $50 and there will be discount if you study in a group.
I usually teach at community or university libraries in the evening or on weekend. Please contact me for my exact timing and availability.
Have fun and all the best to your studies :)
HobbiesIn my free time, I enjoy practicing aikido (a Japanese gentle martial art), bush walking and playing badminton. At home, I usually read books, do crafts/knitting/crocheting or watch movies.

Claire is really good! I was not grasping the fundamentals at all, after a single 90minute lesson- I not only got the basics, but I was able to apply the skills to the harder stuff with ease! :)
Claire is absolutey fabulous, a great teacher, has really helped me and will probably be the reason I pass this subject! She even researches and compiles comprehensive notes for me in her spare time - not expecting to be paid for it! Highly recommended and a real asset to your site. Alaina
