Over 15 years of experience both in academic (University of Urbino -Italy and Macquarie University-Sydney) and private institutions (CoAsIt, Dante Alighieri Society, Centro Studi Italiani, La Lingua Language School and Language Trainers) plus freelancing in Italy and Australia.
I am currently running my own small business as an Italian language tutor in Sydney. I can fluently speak, read and write English and Italian. I am also an intermediate speaker of Spanish and have a basic command of German. I have an absolute fascination for languages and cultures. I have travelled in Europe, America, Asia and the Pacific and worked as a language tutor in different institutions. I can offer courses in Italian language for students of any level and proficiency (including preparation for CELI, IB and HSC), plus organize classes on a variety of different topics: travelling, cinema, literature, art, food et cetera.
I have a long experience in teaching languages to adults and young students. I hold a Diploma in Teaching (Diploma Magistrale Quinquennale) from Italy, plus a BA and Masters in Foreign Languages and I am currently completing a Master of Teaching Secondary in English, TESOL and Modern Languages.
I love to work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds and focus on intercultural understanding in my teaching.
My classes are proficiency-based which means they are student-centered and build upon what students need, already know, and can do. They respect diverse learning styles while encouraging the development of a wide range of skills and learning strategies. I believe in an eclectic approach to language teaching and learning and for this reason my classes draw on both traditional approaches (grammar based) as well as on Communicative language teaching and text-based language education. Student's learning needs and goals would determine what approach might be more suitable. Most importantly, classes will be fun and motivating with relevance to real-life language use.
I can also help anyone who is going to travel to Italy with travelling tips and useful information.
