Tanya D.
Private tutor in Sydney, Australia
Education
I earned my Bachelor of Public Communications in Public Relations at the University of Technology Sydney, where I also earned my Bachelor of International Studies in Spanish Language and Culture. I studied at the University of La Rioja in Spain.
Experience
I learned Spanish utilizing a formal structure by completing levels 1,2,3 & 4 at the University of Technology Sydney. From there, I lived in Spain for one year. Whilst in Spain, I worked as a private English tutor while pursuing my studies. Since returning to Australia, I have worked as a private Spanish tutor for students and children. I currently work in communications for the government of Sydney. I am passionate about tutoring Spanish, as I understand how crucial it is to consolidate skills and formal grammar structures outside of the classroom with adequate one-on-one attention. Despite there being sufficient native Spanish tutors, I think it can be beneficial to have a native English speaker tutoring Spanish, particularly for beginners, children, and adults that prefer thorough explanations of structures and principles.

Hobbies
I love discovering new Spanish and Latin American films and series; the Spanish Film Festival held exclusive to the Palace Cinemas is spectacular! To maintain my Spanish fluency and expand my network of Spanish speakers I regularly attend events and groups throughout the month, I encourage my students to be social and seek out resources. I believe an active mind depends of an active body, so to keep fit and healthy I do cycling, running and Bikram yoga. I am an avid reader in both English and Spanish and also love trying new restaurants and hotspots! I have travelled around Europe, America, South East Asia and Australia.
