Education

Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Exeter with Study Abroad at University of Sydney. I have achieved a First (the highest level available at UK universities) in my first two years at Exeter. At school I studied English Literature, History and Politics and A-Level (equivalent to SSCE) and achieved two A*s and an A. At GCSE level I achieved 6A*s and 5As.

Experience

I have a significant amount of tutoring experience; I have spent the last two years working for the English Speaking Union, a charity which teaches children crucial public speaking and debating skills. The job involved going into schools and running teaching days for groups of around 20 students, teaching them to debate. I have always had hugely positive feedback from this and was asked to continue working with one of the schools. I have also taught debating to my fellow university students, running the competitive debating team for my university. Whilst at school I mentored a younger pupil who was struggling with politics, I managed to take the student from a D grade at the start of the year to an A grade at the end through weekly classes at lunch break. There is nothing more rewarding than teaching people a new skill and giving young people the confidence and ability to succeed in a subject they are struggling with. Politics and public speaking are so fascinating and I would love to help other young people access these subjects.

Hobbies

I am originally from the U.K. and am in Sydney for the year on a study abroad programme. I am friendly, outgoing and love to meet new people. In my spare time I love to stay active; I wakeboard, surf and play touch rugby. I also love to try new things and since I've been in Sydney I have up yoga and salsa dancing. Politics is another key part of my life and I enjoy staying up to date with political debates; I also write a blog about British and world politics: https://georgesiddons1.wordpress.com/
