Education

I recently graduated from SCECGS Redlands, receiving 39 points in the IB diploma programme (equivalent to an ATAR of 97.60), a two-year course of rigorous nature. I am currently studying at The University of Sydney, pursuing an undergraduate degree in science and am a part of the Dalyell Scholars stream.

Experience

Having completed the IB program so recently, I have an excellent understanding of the program as a whole alongside the particular demands of individual subjects. I am extremely familiar with the current syllabuses and their recent changes for HL Chemistry, SL English (L&L), SL Spanish, HL Economics, SL Mathematics, and HL Biology. I also possess a range of effective and up-to-date resources to share with my students. I thoroughly enjoyed my choice of IB subjects and am excited to tutor students in these areas. I am also prepared and more than happy to teach the SL syllabuses for my HL subjects of Chemistry, Economics and Biology as well as Math studies. During my final year of high-school I tutored a couple of year 11 students in both HSC and IB from whom I have received very positive feedback. I am particularly thrilled to get back into tutoring students in Chemistry and Mathematics, where I have plenty of tips to help students boost their grades, as I once did from achieving band 3s to scoring consistent 7s in my mock exams leading up to the finals. I would very much like to continue tutoring as I thoroughly enjoy working with both my peers and students to assist them in reaching their academic potential and helping them manage the IB workload efficiently, allowing them time to pursue other interests.

Hobbies

There's a common misconception that spare time is incredibly scarce for the IB student. Though this might be true for many, I found that maintaining a healthy balance between work and play over the last two years allowed me to excel in both academics and my other areas of interest. In my spare time I enjoy exercising both socially and competitively. Through my senior years I engaged in all kinds of sports and physical activities for instance weight lifting, body-weight training, rowing, waterpolo, football and athletics just to name a few! I also love listening to a wide range of music and playing musical instruments. Since year 7, when I picked up drumming, I've played drums and percussion for a range of ensembles and have featured in many school events such as jazz supper clubs, battle of the bands, speech days, senior music festivals, school assemblies, ANZAC assemblies and class soirees. I also have a passion for playing guitar (self-taught), which I picked up only a few years ago. I have even begun taking piano lessons, which I started learning just this week! I believe IB was an excellent choice for me, and hopefully I can show more students how to best take advantage of such a unique course to reach their academic goals whilst leaving enough room to pursue other interests!
