Education

I graduated from MLC School in 2017 with an IB score of 43 (ATAR equivalent of 99.70). I am currently undertaking a Combined Bachelor of Laws and Arts at the University of Sydney.

Experience

Having just recently completed the IB, I am very familiar with the syllabus and can offer tips on study and prioritization that teachers may often overlook. I can explain things logically and concisely, help streamline the process of both exam technique and writing IAs, EEs, and TOK essays, as well as offer support in all forms. Resources I can provide are my own IAs/EE, summary notes, past papers, IB subject reports, and practice questions. Although I have never formally tutored before this year, during Year 11 I volunteered at a reading program where I helped a primary school student improve his reading through 1-to-1 mentoring sessions over the phone. I have also informally tutored my peers (where this was often reciprocated as a team effort!) and gained further insight into teaching through mentoring younger players as the principal cellist of MLC orchestras and assisting in composition workshops. There is no doubt that the IB is a grueling process that demands critical thinking, efficient study, and excellent organization skills. It can also result in much wasted time when students are overloaded with information, and attempt to study without synthesizing what is actually useful for their exams. I have confidence that I can help make this process more focused and easy to understand, hopefully alleviating some of the stress and pressure that often accompanies these two years.

Hobbies

I am a sociable and highly creative person, with hobbies that revolve mainly around music as I am an avid cellist and composer. I like to write contemporary classical music in my spare time, having had the opportunity to perform original works at the Sydney Town Hall and Sydney Opera House, and I am currently working towards my cello LMusA at the end of the year. The craft of writing has also been a passion of mine from a very young age, where I was the Overall Winner of the What Matters Essay Competition in 2012 as well as the recipient of various writing awards such as the KSP Speculative Fiction Awards and Somerset National Poetry Prize in 2014. Outside of my life as a musician and writer, I love to go out and travel with friends and family, binge-watch Suits episodes and read novels!
