I am an accredited tutor with five years of experience. I can offer tutoring in Mandarin Chinese to students of any skill level or skill set. I also tutor biology, and English/reading and writing. If you are interested in learning Chinese, then we can start with pinyin, which is the Westernized version of the Chinese alphabet. We can start by learning the different sounds of each of the letters so that you can learn to pronounce Chinese words on your own. We can then move on to the five tones of Mandarin. Mandarin is a tonal language, and while inflection is important in any language, it is absolutely vital to understanding what you are saying in Mandarin. Tones in Mandarin can be rising, falling, falling then rising, or flat without any emphasis at all. If you mispronounce the tone you will end up saying an entirely different word so being able to implement the tones correctly is vital.
