Education
I attended UNSW where I obtained both my Bachelor of Arts in English Linguistics and my post-graduate diploma in education, where I specialized in how to teach English as a second language and Spanish at the secondary level. I also have my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which is a qualification to teach adults.
Experience
I am a qualified teacher for the Department of Education. I have taught English as a second language for 5 years and have experience with teaching both adults, and high school students. I have taught English in private colleges to new migrants, in private colleges, and in high school to international students. I have met all kinds of students from many different backgrounds, I am really familiar with many cultures, so I am not surprised by a lot. I am a native English speaker who has a real passion for language acquisition. I studied for an undergraduate degree in linguistics and I have always been really interested in the language learning process and the grammar and structure of language. I studied a Postgraduate degree in education focusing on Spanish and ESL (English as a Second Language) which helped me become a better teacher who can create fun and engaging lessons that interest my students and not bore them. I really enjoy creating fun and interesting lessons that are tailored to my students' needs and what I believe they require to make good progress. I also understand the language learning process on a personal level as I speak Spanish and French. I am a qualified Spanish teacher also. So I understand how you feel. My specialty areas are English as a second language (ESL), general English all levels from beginner to advanced, high school ESL years 7 to 12, IELTS, and Spanish. I have undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in English linguistics and education. I have worked in education for the last 8 years.
