Education
I earned my Master of Arts with a major in Economics at the University of San Carlos. I studied for my Bachelor of Arts with a major in Economics at the Ateneo de Davao University, where I also earned my Master of Arts in Theology. I studied Medical Terminology and Reception at the Bankstown Community College in Sydney.
Experience
My first job after college graduation was as a telephone operator in an international telephone company where English was the major language used. I was a part-time teacher in a college after I finished my master's in Economics. I've been a senior statistician at the City Health Department in Davao City for 15 years. I've made annual reports in book forms in English. Our medium of instruction in school, both verbally and written, is in English. I've made theses in college and master's courses in English. As part of our school curriculum, I've studied English since grade school up through college. I've passed the IELTS exam for family migration Australia which led me and my family to be granted immediately a Permanent Resident Visa, and two years after, that, our citizenship. English is our first language now. Although I never forget my Tagalog and Visayan languages as we still speak them at home. In Australia, I've worked in Australia Post as a customer service representative. I've also worked in St. Vincent's Hospital as a medical receptionist and ward clerk, and then as Administrative Officer in the Medical Records. I can tutor in Filipino languages, such as Tagalog and Visayan since I am a native speaker. My previous tutoring experience was home-based with my two sons, my nieces, and nephews who are now all professionals. They were consistent honor students in classes from grade school to college. I am confident I can raise good achievers as I already have produced several of them. I have taught to some college students in school after graduation. I've also taught Catechism in some public schools here in Sydney using English as a medium of instruction. Teaching is my passion. It is my joy in sharing what I know with others as a way of paying it forward to the blessings I've received. I find fulfillment in doing so. At the same time, I am also learning from my students.
