Education

MMI Medicine coaching for medical school Hi, I'm Alex and I'm currently in a 5th year medical student residing in NSW. I have a passion for coaching and teaching the medical interview to help dedicated students getting into medicine next year! I graduated in 2013 with an ATAR of 99.90. My UMAT was well below average but because of my strong interview skills which was developed through leadership and the corporate field, I was accepted into medical school. During my lessons, I'll use my experience from the past 4 years of teaching medical interview to help you work out exactly where you can maximize marks on each station. I will help you understand what the interviewers are looking for, how to present your attributes, and how to provide clear concise answers that address the question. Due to my previous employment at a leading medical interview prep company, I have tutored for nearly all of the medical schools across Australia (except UWA for some reason). As a result, I am able to cater the format and types of questions for your specific university. If you are interviewing for multiple universities, I'll design a hybrid tutoring program that will ensure you are prepared for the medical schools you are interviewing for. During the workshop, I will be providing you with all my notes that I use for lecture seminars. This includes my notes on health care ethics, public health and approaches to role playing, frameworks on interpersonal questions/scenarios as well as practice questions. To run through all this material, I offer a 2 hour tutorial session to provide you with the skills to begin prepping for the medical school interview. My rates are 75 an hour and I am happy to tutor either out of Double bay library or via Skype. On certain days, I can tutor out of UNSW library depending on my summer research load.

Experience

I have had a lot of experience tutoring medical interviews. It all began 4 years ago when my friends asked me for advice on getting into medical schools. I realised that I had a real talent in teaching people to understand interview questions and present their best attributes due to my extensive preparation for the medical interview as well as my previous high school tutoring experience. I began working at a leading Medical Prep company where I soon became one of the head facillilators and coached workshops with large numbers of pre med students. I also have experience teaching students from many different backgrounds including law, engineering, arts, and nursing.

Hobbies

I follow a 3 step approach to helping you ace the interview. 1- Theory I will help you understand the interview questions and provide all of the background information you need. I also teach structured frameworks and models for a systematic approach. 2 – Application Each session, you’ll answer real medical school interview questions to practice your communication and problem solving skills. Afterwards, you’ll be given feedback and key takeway problems to work on. 3 – Simulation After drilling and training with past questions, you’ll be offered the chance to have simulated medical interviews. The simulations will have the same stations, topics and questions as your specific medical school.
