I have always had a love for learning. I taught myself to code at the age of 13 and have been working on personal projects ever since. When I graduated high school in Germany I decided to apply to University in the US. With the help of my own tutor, I achieved 1590 out of 1600 on my SAT, which helped me get into Vanderbilt University. I continued pursuing coding and this semester I got an internship at Google, which I will be beginning in May of this year. I have always enjoyed helping my friends out with Math and Programming. I am inspired by the challenge of framing my knowledge in a way that is tailored to the level of understanding of the person I am helping. I want to build a connection to students and be part of their intellectual journey. By explaining what I know, I deepen my own understanding of the subject and continuously improve my skills as a teacher. It's a win-win! I give one-on-one programming lessons to guide people from their first "hello world" program through to the mastering of their first programming language. I can teach Scratch, Python, C, C++, and Java. Through practice, I was able to increase my SAT score by 160 points, from 1430 to 1590. I can help students make similar leaps with one-on-one sessions, guiding them through the necessary background knowledge, practicing methods, and test-taking techniques.
