Education

I am a graduate Civil Engineer ( with Honours) from The University of Calicut, in India. Now I'm pursuing my post graduation in Project Management from University of New South Wales. I have a tremendous academic record throughout my career and have shown outstanding potential to seek, learn and implement.

Experience

I was always interested in helping out friends throughout my school and under graduate days. I have helped out in tutoring as a part of my social service club in School and in College. We would give extra attention to students who needed them through a one-on-one session with them, figure out the areas in which they need help and concentrate on them and help them understand the logic and pass their exams. In my professional area, I hold a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College, Thrissur, Kerala. Until January 2015 I was employed as Senior Engineer at the Larsen and Toubro Constructions, based in Oman at Development of Salalah International Airport Project. Throughout my academic years, I have consistently demonstrated an excellent aptitude for science and technology. My interests were always aligned towards various challenging and interesting aspects of civil engineering.I was always encouraged by my teachers to pursue my passion after scoring 85.8% in the AISSE and 91.2 % in AISSCE examinations conducted on by the Central Board of Secondary Education, India. I took the first step towards fulfilling my dream when I put in a commendable performance in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination. Thus, I enrolled inone of India’s top fifty Engineering Institutes, namely, the Government Engineering College, Thrissur to pursue my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. It was during my under-graduate days that I developed a keen aptitude for site work, planning and structural design along with an avid interest towards modern structures and mechanics. Seminars and Paper Presentations by renowned academicians of the construction and engineering fraternity from around the country not only helped enrich my academic profile, but also gave me a thorough knowledge about the various spheres and wide scope of the different subjects in Civil Engineering.Mr. Renjit P James, who currently works at the Department of Transportation, State of New York presented one of the seminars I had attended. His talk mainly focused on the various projects he had undertaken and the problems he had faced in each. This gave me an excellent perspective of the challenges I would face in the field of my choice. Another talk, which had a profound impact on me, was one by Prof. B J Alapatt, who is an eminent professor in Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. His talk was based on the present problem of waste management and how it can be handled. My biggest learning experience during my undergraduate study was organizing the International Conference on Materials for the Future 2011, and also attending talks by passionate researchers in alternate materials. One of the talks was on Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum by Prof. A Meher Prasad, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Questions on the availability of alternate materials for construction in order to minimize wastage in the process and to supplement the rapidly depleting natural resources used by the construction industry, coupled with cost effectiveness, have piqued my interest in the same. This motivated me to present a Seminar on “TheEffect of Eggshell Powder on Soil Stabilization” and also engage in a mini-project on “Experimental Investigations on the effect of Rice Husk Ash on Cement Concrete”. Basing my main project on Hydraulic Design of Structures, I was involved indeveloping mini hydroelectric power plants in rural India. The project mainly aimed at supplementing the power requirements of a smaller community. The power plant makes use of the excess water flow during the rains to produce electricity, which in turn supports the power requirement during low flow durations (summer).Mini hydro electric power plants which are typically cheaper than normal power projects due to smaller dimensions can contribute to distributed energy storage and balancing electricity requirements. Moreover such plants can be built to integrate intermittent renewable energy resources. My internship at Habitat Group Construction Firm, Cochin, Kerala that specializes in low cost construction techniques have given me valuable insights into economic cost modeling. I have always focused on the all-round development of my character, intellect and attitude since my school days. I was awarded the ‘C. Subramanium Award for Excellence in Character’, in the year 2008 by Bhavans Kendra. My peers have reposed confidence in my leadership capabilities and I was successfully elected as the Fine Arts Secretary during my final year in college. I led the college team to securing the second position in the University Youth Festival, where talent, integrity and team skill is challenged. I was also a member of the Core Organizing Committee in several intra-college initiatives, including that of ‘Technofest’, a State Level cultural fest and ‘Extrico’, a National Level technical expo. I was the Joint Coordinator of the Placement Cell at Government Engineering College, Thrissur. These responsibilities have helped me imbibe the confidence and the skill to manage and organize important events. I graduated in June 2012 and was short-listed by two Multi National Companies during campus placements and I chose to join Larsen and Toubro Constructions, Chennai, as a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET), with a view to gain hands on experience in construction. Larsen and Toubro Constructions is the largest construction company in India mainly concentrating on Design and Build Projects. All major landmark constructions in India have been built by L&T like International Airports at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. After recruitment I was trained at the Construction Skills Training Institute, Mumbai for two weeks after which I was posted at Mumbai International Airport Project, Mumbai. This 2 Billion dollar project aims at expanding the present airport to accommodate 47 Million Passengers per year. On completion, the airport will be counted as one of the best in the world for its innovative design and services. My role was to handle Sub-Contract Procurements where I methodically evaluated certain subcontractors and qualified them for various subcontract works. The subcontractors consisted of both domestic and international vendors and companies. Through this experience, I could further enhance my people and schedule management skills. Among the 1200 students recruited from the most prestigious colleges across India, I was one of the six recruits selected to work on the development of Salalah International Airport, Oman. This Project is L&T’s first high budget venture overseas. We also consult with COWI-Larsen Joint Venture , A Danish Engineering and Consulting Firm and also ADPI (Aéroports de Paris international) ,an architecture and engineering Company based in Paris, France who are our Project Consultants and Project Managers respectively.I am a part of Planning and Interfacing for MEP(Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) services that runs across the airport. I have demonstrated a consistent track record of success in work as well as extracurricular activities throughout my education and employment period .I am confident that I have the required skill, knowledge and experience to be successful and effective tutor. The combination of my enthusiasm to work and my proven record for high achievements in studies, work and extracurricular activities make me a suitable candidate for a job at your organisation. I bring along strong fundamentals in engineering, a zest for challenges and an enthusiastic desire to seek, learn and implement
