I have a third-year understand of Linguistics and Japanese. I am currently a 3rd year student at UNSW in Sydney.
Experience
I have been tutoring Japanese for over a year, the last two months of which have been in Sydney. I have couch-surfed in Japan, had awesome conversations in Japanese when I lost my passport (and the train master only spoke Japanese...) and with the people I stayed with. I have built my way up to a 6,000 word vocabulary, and I can show you how you can too. I bring my university-level knowledge of Japanese and linguistics to all of my tutoring classes. This means that we won't be dealing with old and outdated ideas of learning such as rote repetition. I know too well how hard it is to learn Japanese through this kind of dusty learning. It's okay to have fun, to go for your dreams to become fluent in Japanese. I did it. I'm still doing it. And I can show you how you can be there outside of the boring classroom. We'll be learning Japanese with science! This doesn't mean that we will be having just kids-level classes in Japanese or any that will be super hard to understand. There is some technical work, and if you need to use a textbook for school or to pass a proficiency test, I am happy to incorporate that into the class. I do teach much more than that, though.

Hobbies
I play the ancient Japanese flute - the Shakuhachi. This is where a lot of my inspiration for learning Japanese comes from, as well as wanting to live there.
