Education

I have earned my Bachelor of Medical Science as well as my Doctor of Medicine at UNSW (the University of New South Wales). In 2015, I graduated with my International Baccalaureate Diploma with a mark of 42, which is the equivalent of an ATAR of 99.45. I receive top marks in Maths HL, Chemistry HL, German HL, and Physics SL. I scored in the 99th percentile on my UMAT (Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test).

Experience

I have four years of experience with private tutoring. I worked as a tutor for prestigious schools doing IB tutoring in Sydney and the Art of Smart Education. I earned the Goldstein College Academic Award for Medicine in my second semester. I was also a grand finalist in the national round of the Evatt UN Youth Debating and Diplomacy Competition. I love teaching and explaining concepts to those around me, and through years of experience, I have refined my skills in communicating complex ideas and thoughts. I enjoy learning and hope to impart my passion for the subjects I tutor as well as the content. I believe teaching should not just be repetitive rote learning from a book, but an interactive experience grounded on a fluid tutor/ tutee relationship, where the tutee is comfortable in asking the tutor questions no matter the complexity, and expecting a well thought out, understandable answer. Lessons should not just be stale rehearsals of exercises done in class, but an inquiry into the core concepts underpinning the concept, allowing for deeper understanding and consequent improvement. Through my four years of tutoring, I have gained significant experience in working with students with very different learning styles, and I ensure the key points are communicated in the simplest way for each student.

My name is Leo, and I had a great time during high school and the 'stressful' years of year 11 and 12. One can do excellently in the HSC/IB/High School, even without studying 24/7. In fact I believe it is easier to achieve good results with a balanced lifestyle. Managing the equilibrium between school, social life, exercise, and the dozens of other expectations and responsibilities may seem daunting and nigh impossible. However, with focus, one can reach the harmony between these separate parts, and, consequently, enhance the whole. In year 12, I did continue training in taekwondo, andI remained a devout follower of Manchester United. All of this was balanced with target based and efficient study. I hope I can impart this knowledge onto you, as a background to everything else I teach. Hopefully, your year 12 will be as enjoyable as mine.
