Education

I'm a sophomore Economics (Honours) major at Sydney University currently undertaking Economics and Law. My average annual mark is 75 with a High Distinction in Statistics, Introduction to Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics. I'm also pursuing Psychology as an elective.

Experience

I am a Chancellor's Scholar with a full scholarship granted during the full span of my university studies. With a score of 44 out of 45 (99.95 ATAR) from my International Baccalaureate Diploma (HL: Chinese A, Physics, Economics, Math; SL: Chemistry, English B), I was admitted to the University of Chicago and Swarthmore College in the US. I've scored 117/120 on the TOEFL and 2180/2400 on the SAT with 800/800 on the SAT Subject Tests for Physics and Maths. I also got 5/5 on AP Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Chinese. In Sydney, I work regularly as an interpreter at various conferences, the most recent one being the Harvard-Geneva-Renmin-Sydney Quadrilateral Tort Law Conference. In Shanghai, I worked as the brand ambassador at the New Zealand Consulate-General/ Trade Enterprise. I've also been actively involved in volunteer work, all of which requires constant bilingual output.

Hobbies

My interests vary from hip-pop music to literature. Based on painting per request, I've programmed and developed an illustration website (www.brentliang.com) which is currently sitting on a $4,000 profit. I've also been acknowledged as the Regional Finalist by the Hult Prize Foundation founded by the Clintons Global Initiative to develop innovation solutions for the refugees. Graduated with Honours from the Harvard Summit for Young Leaders in China, I was invited to a cultural exchange at Harvard University for a week, the opportunity of which I utilised to co-found a project to mitigate heavy water pollution in China. The project won the Third Prize at China Thinks Big, a semi-annual research competition by Harvard Association for US-China Relations and our patent is pending from the government.
