Education
I have a BA (Honours) from The University of Sydney in Ancient History. In addition to studying ancient history whilst at university, I also took courses in modern history, ancient languages, religion, archaeology and classics. My special interests are in Classical Greek History and Late Republic/Imperial Rome. When I completed the HSC in 2005 I took Advanced English, Advanced Maths, English Extension 1, Ancient History, Society and Culture, and Drama.
Experience
I have experience in tutoring both privately for school students and in the university classroom. I have helped students who were failing in year 11 to go on to achieve a band 6 in the HSC. All of my high school students have achieved a band 5 or higher. My key area of expertise is History (particularly Ancient History) but I am experienced in teaching general writing skills too. I am passionate about tutoring because I know what it is to have true potential overlooked in a busy classroom. Based on past feedback, both in a one-on-one situation and university classroom setting, it would appear that I have been successful because I bring a compassionate, non-judgemental and patient attitude to my teaching.
